“Uncle Fred” versus a professional photographer
I like to think in terms of threes, so let’s look at three reasons to hire a professional photographer. Better equipment, training and better photos! 1) Better photos. Let’s face it. We have all had photos taken of us that we just don’t like! Maybe we can’t put our finger on it, or maybe we know exactly why we don’t like these photos. Wanna know a secret? All of us sound and look a little bit different to others than we think. Trained photographers know this, and work hard to try to capture your best attributes. Things like larger noses, eyes inset too much, bald, forehead too large and a little extra weight are things that trained photographers can work with to make you as flattering as possible. 2) Training. Some elements that really make a photo extraordinary are things like good lighting (or proper exposure), correct composition, and an interesting subject! Skillfully weave these elements and you can create a great photograph. Unfortunately, most won’t intuitively know how to pose someone with a crooked smile, or long neck, or poor lighting unless they have done their homework. 3) Better equipment. The difference in quality between a kit lens (lenses that come with consumer cameras) and a professional lens is definitely noticeable! Your friend might have a “nice” camera, but if they aren’t in the business of photography, they probably haven’t spent the thousands of dollars required to purchase professional equipment. Does it matter? Yes, it really does! See this linkfor a quality comparison in lenses.
