Wedding Dress Photos

Before the bride gets ready on wedding day, the photographer will typically take the wedding dress to stage a photo of the wedding dress. The dress is a very iconic piece of the wedding. The history of the wedding dress dates back to when weddings were not necessarily chosen to occur by love. Marriages occurred to join families for benefits in wealth and social status. The wedding dress was then used as a symbol to reflect the wealth and social standing of the families involved. As marriages evolved towards the modern view, the families wealth and status were less cared about but, the beauty of the dress still remained as an important reflection of the bride and most brides spend a long time choosing the dress they want on their big day. So, capturing a great photo of the dress is very important. If you happen to be looking for a wedding dress in the Wilmington area, check out Camille’s of Wilmington. Posing for Your Wedding Photos

1. Making sure that you are ready on time will give the photographer enough time to get the best possible shots prior to the wedding ceremony. The more time you give your photographer, the higher quality memorable photos you will have.Wedding preparation, Wedding Photography, Jess Stephenson Photography

2. Practicing posing for your wedding photos is very helpful for the photographer and your own comfort. If you are uneasy about how you think you may look when you are posing your facial expression will show it. It helps to practice in a mirror or have a friend take a fun photoshoot of you. Check out these posing tips here.Posing, Wedding Photography, Jesse Stephenson Photography

3. Designating a person to help coordinate group photos is very helpful. The photographer is responsible for taking a number of formal pictures and having someone such as the wedding planner help gather the family helps make everything very efficient.Formal Wedding Pictures, Jesse Stephenson PhotographyFormal Wedding Pictures, Jess Stephenson Photography

Deciding on an outdoor wedding

There are so many beautiful places to have your wedding in the Wilmington area and you may decide you want an outdoor wedding. The beach and parks of Wilmington create a wonderful setting and mood and will create some wonderful pictures, but the weather can always be a very intimidating issue. If it doesn’t rain, too much sun in an unshaded area could also be a problem for your big day. Make sure to have a big shaded area nearby just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. Even if the weather is near perfect make sure to wear sunscreen. You wouldn’t want to get a sunburn during your photoshoot a few hours before your ceremony. 4 Stages of a Wedding Pt. 1

Around 60-70 percent of the photography will be from a narrative or journalistic approach. The rest will be portrait style, where I will help pose you and/or your family. This is helpful to capture great bride shots, bride and groom portraits, family, and bridal party photos.

For the sake of photography, I like to break the wedding into 4 segments. The first is…

Getting Ready

First, some shots are taken of the wedding dress and anything special such as notes, jewelry, gifts can be staged for photographs.Wilmington Wedding Photography, Jesse Stephenson Photography, Wedding Preparation, Wedding dress photos, Bridal Photography Wilmington Wedding Photography, Jesse Stephenson Photography, Wedding Preparation, Wedding dress photos, Bridal Photography Wilmington Wedding Photography, Jesse Stephenson Photography, Wedding Preparation, Wedding dress photos, Bridal Photography

Next, several shots of the bride getting ready are taken. When she is finished a few bride portraits are taken alone and then the Bridesmaids and family get involvedWilmington Wedding Photography, Jesse Stephenson Photography, Wedding Preparation, Wedding dress photos, Bridal Photography Wilmington Wedding Photography, Jesse Stephenson Photography, Wedding Preparation, Wedding dress photos, Bridal Photography Wilmington Wedding Photography, Jesse Stephenson Photography, Wedding Preparation, Wedding dress photos, Bridal Photography Wilmington Wedding Photography, Jesse Stephenson Photography, Wedding Preparation, Wedding dress photos, Bridal Photography Wilmington Wedding Photography, Jesse Stephenson Photography, Wedding Preparation, Wedding dress photos, Bridal Photography

The same is then repeated for the groom.
